Lakeview Café

Hidden away near the Drift Road in Cranbourne not that far from Legoland it is situated by fishing lakes.

Dan says, “Lake Side was proper old school caff, excellent for bacon sandwiches on white sliced. Catering to fisherman and builders predominantly. Babs begins the counter serving. Constant queue of people. No matching crockery. Mustard jars with little spoons. Huge slabs of cake. Big cafetière for the 4 of us to share. Safe bike parking. Worth booking via FB as only a few small tables. A favourite of Chiswick CC who we met. Menu over the counter. Fridge with padlock. All-round it was a very enjoyable blast from the past. View was of fishing ponds!”

North St, Cranbourne, Windsor SL4 4TE

High Beeches Tea Room

Situated south of Crawley at Handcross, West Sussex.

High Beeches

Clashcity says, “Very friendly and well organised, loads of space to park your bikes up, plenty of room inside for social distancing. Coffee pretty decent but not exceptional, option for wine and beer (!) Toasted sandwiches great, cake choice limited but nice. Overall a really good option, especially in winter, not far from Faygate”.

Claire’s comment “Tasty and moist lemon drizzle and a nice toastie too!”

Tanhouse Farm Shop – Newdigate

Tanhouse farm shopA ride to Newdigate is typically a 50 mile round trip from Esher. Good job there is a great refueling stop! It is popular with many cycling clubs from all over the south east. A good range of cakes, pies and meals along with hot and cold beverages and even jelly babies! Plenty of space inside and out. Also a handy tap to top up your water bottles inside.

Peaslake Village Store

Peaselake Village StorePeaslake Village Store is perfectly located in the Surrey Hills for a much needed coffee stop. Popular with mountain bikers at the weekend. Great value hot drinks and cakes. Freshly cooked pies and pastries. The sausage and pickle slice is a big hit with some DV members!

The Dabbling Duck – Shere

Dabbling DuckThe Dabbling Duck is a popular cafe stop just beyond Staple Lane/Coombe Bottom. Originally more of a coffee and cake stop but in recent times has become a waitress service cafe offering a fancy menu. Ample outside seating and a cosy yurt in the winter. A 30 mile there and back ride.

Velolife

VelolifeVelolife is a cafe for cyclists! For many years I’ve cycled along a quiet Warren Row Road on my way back from Henley then in 2012 this cafe sprung up.
The menu is limited but great if you just want coffee and cake! It can get very busy mid morning.
Recently Clashcity and I popped in on our way to Andover and just missed the mid morning rush. The carrot cake was amazing.

Strawberry Fields Tea Room near Horsham

Horsham is a long way on a bike. Cake is required!
Strawberry Fields Tea Room is near to the Faygate roundabout on the A264. A little off the beaten track but worth it. Nice coffee and cakes.
A typical farm and craft shop with ample space for bikes and cars.
I had a chance to try out the cafe on one of my long rides. Staff were very happy to fill water bottles.
