2024 Farley Heath Road & Markwick Lane Route

DV 2024 Segments – Farley Heath Road, Markwick Lane
Overview – Distance: 82 km, Climbing: 960 m
Café stop – See below

Take the usual route to Shere via Cobham. Climb to Albury Heath and Little London. Go past the holiday park and keep right to Farley Heath Road.

The segment starts just past the car park and yellow road salt container. It is a relatively even climb between 2-6%. At the top, be careful on the descent as there is a sharp bend where the road narrows and there is usually gravel.

Continue past the Christmas tree farm and down to the main road. You will find the Old Forge café to your right. Take the road towards Cranleigh and then at the roundabout head towards Dunsfold.

At Loxwood, turn sharp left into Markwick Lane and the segment starts at the yellow road salt container (I sense a theme!). The first 75% of the segment is below 6% gradient, but then it steepens up to nearly 12% at the top.

Caution as you descend the other side past the stables, as the road narrows after the bend. Descend Salt Lane and turn right to Busbridge and Bramley.

At Bramley, you could pop into The Nest for coffee before heading towards Wonersh.

The route home goes up Halfpenny Lane at Chilworth for a bit of variety!
