DV 2024 Segments – Tandridge Hill Lane, Warwick Wold Road
Overview – Distance: 77 km, Climbing: 960 m
Café stops – Flower Farm Shop
This ride contains two challenging segments.
Ride out to Chipstead via Ewell and Banstead, including the long drag up to the Banstead A217 traffic lights. Bypass Banstead centre and descend to Chipstead down Holly Lane. Climb up Hazelwood Lane before descending to Gatton and Merstham. You will find yourself on the Nutfield Marsh segment before heading on the main A25 to Godstone. Through Godstone and past the Flower Farm Shop, across the bypass roundabout and turn left after 800m up the Tandridge Hill Lane segment.
Tandridge Lane segments start approximately 400m along by two new beige houses with a wide gated driveway. The first half of the segment is mostly below 8% and eases off before the remainder has ramps up to 14%. The end is where the gradient flattens, 25m before the junction.
Turn sharp left at the end and descend Gangers Hill/Flower Lane. Caution on the steep bend as Gangers Hill becomes Flower Lane. At the bottom, turn right then right into Flower Farm to refuel.
Turn right out of Flower Farm and retrace the route back through Godstone and Bletchingley, and turn right past the Red Lion pub down Little Common Lane. The next segment is 2km away.
Turn right into Warwick Wold Road and the segment starts after 100m at the right bend. The first part is only 8% until it levels off crossing the M25. The remainder is between 6-12%. When the segment becomes Hilltop Lane, there is a steep S bend before levelling out. The segment finishes at the Chaldon AD 1886 sign.
Continue on Hilltop Lane and over the crossroads to Farthing Downs. Descend to Coulsdon, cross the roundabout and left to Woodmansterne at the lights. Climb up to Banstead (possible coffee stop) and then descend to Ewell.
