Overview – Distance:73 km, Climbing: 460 m
Café stop – Chobham.

The new 2026 Mytchett Place Road #101 segment runs in the opposite direction up Tunnel Hill compared to last year’s segment. The start is just after the sharp left turn at Mytchett Lake, the finish is at the top of the hill by the right arrow sign. The route to the segment is fairly flat until after Pirbright when you climb the old Mytchett Place Road segment. Descend to the canal to a possible coffee stop at the canal centre.

Note: Make sure you have deleted last year’s segment from your ” Strava segments”.

After the segment, head towards Chobham through Brookwood. Possible coffee stop at Chobham. Head towards Sunningdale. The Windsor Road segment starts at the left bend “Reduce Speed Now” sign. The finish is at the bridge over the M3.

Take a right at the roundabout and head back via Longcross and Chertsey. You could get a coffee and all day breakfast at Old School Café on Longcross.

DV 2026 Segments -Mid Street, Tilburstow Hill Rd, Flower Lane Segments

Overview – Distance: 77 km, Climbing: 990 m
Café stop – Flower Farm, Poppy Café.

Two “New for 2026” segments are on this route. Head to Nutfield via Banstead and Merstham. The Mid Street segment is a “down the hill and back up”. Make sure you go well beyond the segment to ensure your computer records the correct crossing of the start point. Turn back up Mid Street, the segment starts just past a row of posts on the left and a 30mph sign. The segment finish is just before the summit, after the junction with Sandy Lane on your left. At the junction ahead, turn right towards Godstone.

The Tilburstow Hill Road segment is another new segment that heads south out of Godstone. Go past The Bell pub and peel off right, signposted Godstone Farm. The segment starts at the bridge and finishes at the top of the hill past Rabies Heath Road. Go past the segment but don’t descend the hill. Turn around and retrace the segment and turn right down The Enterdent (you do the reverse of 2025 segment). At the end of Church lane you have the option to turn left and either go 200m to Flower Farm Café or jink over the main road for the next segment.

For 2026 the Flower Lane segment has been shortened and finishes before the junction with Tandridge Hill Lane. The segments starts at the first dip. Cross the bypass and then sharp right up Gangers Hill. The finish is when the road levels off and curves left, just before Chaldon Farm. At the farm, turn around and carefully descend the hill. At the sharp bend (scene of a famous DV “Blue Light Award” incident) tun right to Woldingham School.

The return route home is past the Ann Summers roundabout and climb up to Old Coulsdon. Descend Marlpit Lane and at the bottom you will find Poppy Café in the Memorial Ground. There are more cafés in Chipstead and Banstead on the route home if required.

DV 2026 Segments – Lunghurst Road, Chalkpit Lane, Tupwood Lane segments

Overview – Distance: 88 km, Climbing: 1150 m
Café stop – Caterham, Banstead

This route includes two new segments Lunghurst Road and Tupwood Lane plus the evil Chalkpit Lane. Head towards Caterham via Banstead and Coulsdon. From the Ann Summers roundabout head to Woldingham and Halliloo Valley Road. Turn right at some large gates onto Lunghurst Road.

The Lunghurst Road segment starts shortly after the junction. The finish is at a 30mph sign when the road levels out. After the segment keep going up to the green in Woldingham. If you require food and drink, turn right and the Village Shop is 100m away. The route turns left to the golf course then left along The Ridge to the top of Chalpit lane.

Descend Chalkpit lane with care and take in the steep bends with bad road surface! At the bottom of the hill, I suggest going a short way along Barrow Green Road so that your computer correctly registers the start. Oxted shops are along on the left if you need supplies.

The Chalkpit Lane segment starts soon after the junction, and it finishes metres from the junction at the top. Turn right at the top and head to Botley Hill. Take a left turn on the Croydon Road. Turn left onto Halliloo Valley Road and descend back to the Ann Summers roundabout. Take the 2nd exit to Caterham (maybe coffee stop here).

Go straight through Caterham heading towards Godstone. Just past Kwik-Fit you see a pelican crossing and Tupwood Lane on the right. The segment start 150m up the hill by a sign for “Hill8View”. The segment finish is just after a triangle warning “cyclists 80m” sign. At the junction, turn right onto Tupwood Scrubbs Road.

The route home is to Gatton Bottom, up Markedge Lane and on to Banstead and Ewell. Maybe grab a coffee at Banstead.

Overview – Distance: 80 km, Climbing: 1100 m
Café stop – Peaslake.

Rowhook Road is “New for 2026”. Rowhook is on the way to Horsham which makes this a long ride out. As the direct route goes down Whitedown and Abinger Lane is at the bottom, it would be rude to ignore it!.

Descend Whitedown and cross the A24 Guildford-Dorking Road. Enter Raikes Lane and bear left onto Abinger Lane. The segment starts at the first right bend. The climb finishes at the wrought iron gates of a house on the left named “Furzen Wood”. Descend Sutton Lane with care and turn left towards Holmbury St Mary. Continue straight to Forest Green and Walliswood. Continue on Horsham Road to Rowhook. Descend to the junction with the A29 Bognor Road. Stop and do a “U” turn.

The Rowhook Road segment starts soon after the junction and finishes at the crest of the hill by a large drive way. After the segment, continue on the Horsham Road to Ewhurst.

Turn left at Ewhurst and go towards Cranleigh. (Possible small detour for coffee in Cranleigh). Next segment is Barhatch Lane.

Turn off Brookhurst Road onto Barhatch Road. At the junction with Amletts Lane, bear right up Barhatch Lane. The segment starts 700m along at a dip in the road with railings on the right. Save some energy for the final 100m. Go past some driveways and a blue garage door. Hell awaits! Crest the climb and press on to the finish, past the junction and by the yellow road grit container on the right.

Descend to the junction with Hound House Road. As it is a dangerous descent, turn right and head to Peaslake for a welcome coffee and special sausage roll!

Head home via Shere and Coomb Lane.

DV 2026 Segments – Aldens Hill, Littleton Lane Segments

Overview – Distance: 70 km, Climbing: 690 m
Café stop – Busbridge

A relatively short and flat with two segments. Head out via Greendene and Albury. At the Bramley mini roundabout, go straight over and along Snowdenham Lane, which becomes Thorncombe Street. You will come to a junction with a double fronted house ahead. Take the sharp right, signposted “Godalming 2” and up Aldens Hill. In the winter, there is often a large puddle at the bottom of the hill!

Alden’s Hill segment starts at the bridge (in the puddle and gravel)! The climb is narrow and steep, but the reward is the view as you go past Coombe Farm (once a café). Push on to the finish past some iron gates on your right as it flattens out. At the end of the road turn left then next right and head towards Godalming.

You will find Yew Tree café behind Busbridge Parish Church at the top of the descent into Godalming.

Head through the Godalming centre around Waitrose (of course!) and take the A3100 towards Guildford. At the Peasmarsh roundabout, take the first exit to Compton. Keep an eye out for the right turn (Stakescorner Road) to Loseley House which has a “No vehicles except for access” sign.

The Littleton Lane segment start just after the Littleton village sign. The segment finishes just after the “Reduce Speed Now” sign as the road bends to the right. Caution – Sharp bend and narrow road.

Descend the old 2025 segment Sandy Lane and at the end turn left towards Guildford. Descend Portsmouth Road and just after the pelican crossing you have an option to turn right on the shared cycle path through the town centre. I prefer to stay on the road rather than battle pedestrians.

Go through Guildford and head for home on familiar roads to East Clandon and Cobham.

DV 2026 Segments – Aldens Hill, Tennyson’s Lane Segments

Overview – Distance: 107 km, Climbing: 1300 m
Café stop – Hambledon, Haslemere

A couple of old favourites here! Tennyson’s Lane is at the limit of the “distance to segment” so this is a long ride.

This is a “there and back” route via Albury and Bramley.

Push on to the finish past some iron gates on your right. Turn left at the end.

Continue to Munstead then on to Hambledon for a possible coffee at Hambledon Village Shop. Press on along Prestwick Lane towards Haslemere. Turn left onto Petworth Road and on a left-hand bend take the right to Petworth Lane into West Sussex. Follow the route to Jobsons Lane and take a right up the single track Jay’s Lane, which joins Tennyson’s Lane which is a sharp right uphill.

The Tennyson’s Lane segment starts at the junction with Jay’s Lane, which makes a flying start tricky! The segment wiggles it’s way up the narrow road and finishes at the car park.

Descend towards Haslemere and possibly stop for a large cake in the town centre before retracing the route home.

Another “New for 2026” segment on this route, Langhurst Wood Lane is near Warnham.

To get there, we go through Newdigate and Rusper. Go past Rusper and turn right along Green Lane. At the junction, head down Langhurst Wood Road, past the Biffa Waste Management site to the next right turn. The segment start is at the junction with Mercer Road that takes you to Warnham Station. Turn around and do the segment. The finish is at the sign for “Graylands” where you will find Torque Moto Cafe. No cake, but highly tuned “gear” to power you to the next segment!.

While digesting your “Limited Slip” bacon roll, retrace your route to Rusper. Head to Charlwood. At Charlwood turn left towards Betchworth to Stan Hill or right for a cake stop.

The Stan Hill (full climb) segment starts just after the first house on the right. The finish is at the Stanhill Court Hotel entrance as the road levels out.

Next we head back via Brockham (possible café stop) and on to Dorking, Leatherhead to home.

First we head through Effingham to Whitedown. Descend Whitedown and cross the A24 Guildford-Dorking Road. Enter Raikes Lane and bear left onto Abinger Lane.
